Word of the Chair
With this first edition of the year of Excipients Insight, we wish you all success professionally and personally for 2015.
For IPEC Europe, the year starts as usual with our annual event, the IPEC Europe Excipients Forum, which will take in Nice on 5 February and will be followed the next day by our Annual General Meeting (AGM). We are happy that so many of you registered - bringing the number of participants to a sell-out 120 - and look forward to welcoming you at the Negresco Hotel for the event, which this year has been entitled Changing times, changing practices? Focus on excipient quality and functionality.
For those of you who have not been able to register, a comprehensive write-up of the event will be published in the next edition of this newsletter.
Once again this year, speakers from the EDQM, WHO, USP and from our sister associations, IPEC-Americas and IPEC China will provide you with the latest developments of issues of interest to users and suppliers of excipients.
The 2015 programme will address topics such as the revision of Chapter 5 of the EU Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Guide and the risk assessment guidelines used to determine the appropriate level of GMP for excipients.
Speakers will also provide an up-to-date view of developments in Good Distribution Practice (GDP) and pharmacopeias, and IPEC's recently-finalised Significant Change Guide will also be presented. Finally, delegates will hear about some of the opportunities and challenges presented by technically-unavoidable particles, co-processed excipients and the emerging issue of intentional or accidental alcohol-induced dose dumping (ADD).
The IPEC Europe committees will hold their first meeting of the year on 4 February, and EXCiPACT will hold its second annual general meeting after one year of existence as a not-for-profit organisation.
On behalf of the board we look forward to welcoming you in Nice. Have a safe trip!
